Giphy Brings GIFs (Also Happiness, Modernity) to Facebook Feeds
Animated GIF search engine/homeland Giphy has figured out a work-around for posting GIF images to Facebook, which, for whatever reason, has banned the looping animated files (to prevent user happiness, probably).
Head to Giphy, find a GIF you like, copy the Giphy URL, and paste it into the Facebook status bar. Facebook will auto-generate a link with a play button on the image preview, as if it were a video. You'll have to click on the play button to view the animation.
It's not a true GIF, but it'll work — for now. I have a flash blocker Chrome extension and had to deactivate it to view the image, which means that it's not a GIF at all, but a flash-enabled copy of the GIF. So go on and GIF to your heart's content, Facebooker. As always, send your favorite/funniest animated Internet finds our way.
